A two-day course that will give you a basic understanding of permaculture design plus practical skills to help you start living more sustainably.
Learn in a supportive, friendly environment to gain the skills and confidence you need to get started in permaculture. You can begin making changes at home that will save you money and help you meet your household needs in a more sustainable way.
Run over two consecutive Sundays, the packed course features: permaculture design principles and ethics, recycling, backyard and small-scale permaculture, food forests, growing subtropical food, keeping backyard chooks, creating healthy soil, no-dig gardens, reducing your energy consumption and water use, Transition Town initiatives and how you can create networks in your community.
Practical hands-on skills include composting, worm farming and exploring the landscape.
You will leave knowing how to apply simple yet sustainable design techniques directly to your home and lifestyle.
The course also covers information on local suppliers and local networks.
The Introduction to Permaculture is taught by Sonya Wallace, permaculture educator and co-founder of Transition Towns initiatives in Australia. Sonya runs Permaculture Pathways – permaculture training programs. The course includes a tour of our established property – The Garden of Eatin’ so you can see real solutions in action.
Venue: The Garden of Eatin' at Eudlo (between Palmwoods and Mooloolah) on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland.
Cost: $140 for the two days
What to bring: lunch, morning tea, water, hat, gloves, notebook, pen, camera (if you wish) and a fold out chair.
ABOUT THE PROPERTY – the Garden of Eatin’ is a permaculture demonstration site, 2.25 acres of organic gardens with permaculture principles applied. We are currently retrofitting the property to full permaculture design including our home. The property has been established as organic for the past 12 years.
