Transition Whidbey's Potlucks With a Purpose

Transition Whidbey Potlucks with a Purpose!
Wednesday December 3, 5:30pm - 8:00pm
Langley Methodist Church

Potlucks with a Purpose brings our community together every month to share good food, fun, and conversation plus excellent programs and information about sustainability.

Bring a dish that serves 6, your own utensils and plate to this evening of community connection and networking. Learn from folks in our community and beyond about what’s already happening -- and how you can get the skills, support, and information you’re interested in -- to transition toward the healthy, vibrant, and sustainable community we all envision! Children are welcome and child-friendly activities will be offered.

Just in time for the holidays this December, TW is offering a lifeboat to everyone who comes to the community potluck! Well, ok a metaphoric's more of a strategy for economic survival than an actual rubber raft. We'll hear from members in our community who have taken another look at personal and community economics and have come up with approaches that add value to our community and our personal lives. These solutions are local, sustainable, innovative, and practical. Our guests include Chris Hurley, CEO of Goosefoot; a member of TW's Local Economy Action Group; and Vicki Robin whose newly revised book, Your Money or Your Life will be hitting bookstores everywhere this month. While the national economic situation might be giving you a migraine, these panelists offer sane ways of getting your needs met while building our local community.

Tea will be provided. Local musicians will entertain us. Space will be available to share information about your local sustainability-related project or organization – please contact Britt at to make arrangements for a table. Donations are welcome but not required.

Transition Whidbey is sponsoring this series of community potlucks each month as part of offering a nourishing and stimulating foundation for individuals, families, and groups island-wide to build a more healthy and resilient community...TOGETHER.

TW's mission is to catalyze our community to work together towards greater food, energy, and economic self-reliance in response to predicted energy and resource constraints. To learn more, email Britt at
